I was asked to come up with a CD design for Mark Barden’s portrait album “Anatomy”, released in 2021. His 'music understands sound as a fundamentally physical phenomenon. By emphasizing the violence of sound-making – with all its gripping, striking and scraping – he invites the audience not just to listen, but to feel their own bodies listening and engaging with sound and, vicariously, with the musicians’ bodies as their muscles and breath vibrate the air.'¹

Mark Barden –
Anatomy

Working closely together with the composer I created his very own version of the death’s-head hawkmoth from “Silence Of The Lambs”. We decided to go with a very punchy pink to stand out from WERGO’s other publications.

I used drawings of ear bones for the composition behind the CD that can only be seen once the CD has been taken out. For the booklet’s backside we used a foil-print so that the moth is only visible when the light reflects at certain angles.
